As I do my daily commute each morning and night (yes, I’m crazy), I’ve noticed a lot of debris on the side of the road. Most of the debris I’m guessing is from previous car crashes and accidents. I counted 4 car bumpers the other day—two gray ones and two red ones, plus a tire treds, and various colored orange and blue glass and plastic. Yesterday morning there were dead deer on the road. I hate seeing dead animals especially, and there is always something dead out there, mostly small animals (not people, thank God), but seeing car parts around is almost as worse. It freaks me out to tell you the truth. Don’t these highway patrol people ever think about possibly cleaning car wreckage from the side of road, or do they keep it there as a reminder to all commuters the dangers of driving in the rain on a sleek mountain highway? In reality, I think it only freaks out the careful drivers, not the ones who think of the highway as more of a racecar track than anything else. You know the ones I’m talking about…the ones that will put the bright lights on you when you are only going 5 miles over the speed limit because you are in their way and they to get to their destination 45 seconds faster than you do. You know, the people that have no regard to who is in your car, whether it be a car full of kids, or someone who is watching for deer to run in front of your car, or some rock to fall down from the muddy and wet cliff you are driving next to. I can’t stand those people. I always laugh to myself when I catch up to them at the first stoplight once I reach town.

Maybe the commute is just getting to me. I hate the rain. I hate driving in the rain. I get home sometimes and I just feel fried. I’m looking forward to the Spring…longer days, when I can still drive home with a decent amount of sunshine without the presence of looming dark clouds hovering over me, and I can actually enjoy driving through the woods. Yeah, I do enjoy it, and yes, I’m crazy. If I didn’t have to do it almost everyday though, I would not really miss it however. But, a girl has to do what girl has to do, right? Some people can deal with it, some people can’t. I’m guess I’m the stronger. I'm just thankful I can use the comuter lane!
