Look Them Up! 1:30 p.m. 2006-07-28 While listening to my favorite radio station on the drive to work, the morning crew were asking callers how they felt in regards to using public records, such as calling the sheriff's department, or researching Google to look up people. One of the radio's D.J's disclosed that he had a single sister who often looked up men's names in the system to find out about them before actually dating. I am all for it. We live in a weird scary time. If you have the resources to find out about someone, just do it. You don't know who these people are. Better to know now then weeks or months later. Yes, I've done it before. When I was single, I did it even more. Being a single mom, I wanted to know who I was dating. Believe it or not, too many of these losers did have some type of "record." Sure, some only had traffic violations, but I came across a few DUI people, and a person who was once a client of where I work..(NOT GOOD.) Google is a good tool. Find out where your old friends are---do an image search--you might find them. You might learn that they are now working in Hollywood. I'm not kidding. I've found a few. It came real handy when I was helping locate alumni for my high school graduation extravaganza! I also discovered that ex-boyfriend (is that what he was? i'm still wondering what the heck he was) likes to use his ham radio to find UFO signals in outer space... Lovely. Let's just say I'm fortunate of where I work, and I use my resources. Years ago, I invited a girlfriend of mine on a double date. It didn't happen after we found out there was a warrant out for his arrest. This is a good thing. What if they met, fell in love, and then got stopped for a traffic violation, and the cop decides to send his behind in the slammer? I couldn't do that to a friend. I also look up prospective renters at my mom's house. There is no way I'm going to allow a criminal live at my mom's house! Now, don't get me wrong. I don't use my access to records in a bad way. These records are public information, and can be looked up on the internet. I don't advertise, but I do protect myself and the ones I care about. Don't call me if you want to know about so and so... Call your local sheriff's office. Hint: If you don't want to be looked up in Google, don't publish anything online--especially your pictures. Unfortunately, if you are written about, in any newspaper..etc.. You are going to be found on Google, more than likely. OH well, the price for success I guess.. I know I'm working in the wrong field. I'm not working to my full potential. I need to get into investigations----Julie, Private Eye, Investigation Services, Specializing in catching, Cheats/Liars & Runaway Parents.. May be when I'm older before my children sap me dry.. Perhaps I should just stick to my Gift Basket venture. More on that later.. |
